Where the name comes from

HUS is the Scandinavian word for home. It reflects the philosophy at the heart of everything we do: that a home should feel genuinely lived-in, layered over time, and full of pieces that mean something. Not a showroom. A home.

What we sell

We stock a carefully edited range of furniture and homeware for every room — from dining tables, sideboards, console tables and bookcases to lighting, mirrors, rugs, textiles, ceramics and garden pieces. Every product is chosen because it earns its place: well-made, honest in its materials, and designed to age well rather than date quickly.

Our collections span a range of interior styles — from the warm, grounded tones of farmhouse and country interiors to the organic textures of Scandinavian-influenced design and the sun-soaked warmth of Mediterranean-inspired pieces. Whatever your home, we look for pieces that feel collected rather than coordinated.

Our approach

We believe in quality over quantity. We’d rather stock fewer things and know them well than offer an overwhelming catalogue of pieces we can’t stand behind. Every product we carry has been chosen by hand, with a clear sense of where it belongs and who it’s for.

We’re based in the Lake District — a place defined by landscape, craft and a particular kind of unhurried beauty. That sensibility runs through everything we do.

The Design Studio

Alongside our shop, we run HUS & CO. Design Studio — an interior design, styling and furniture sourcing service for private homes, holiday lets, Airbnbs, boutique hotels and commercial spaces. If you’re furnishing a property and want considered, expert guidance rather than a generic solution, the Design Studio is where to start.

Our customers include homeowners looking to furnish a room properly, people renovating or building a new home, Airbnb and holiday-let owners wanting to create a memorable guest experience, and interior designers sourcing pieces for client projects. We work with spaces across the UK, with a particular depth of knowledge in Lake District and Cumbrian interiors.
